READING, Pa. – Reading police officers responded to the report of shots fire in the 1200 block of Church Street around 10 p.m. Monday.
The victims of that shooting, who were in a car when they were struck, turned up in the area of South 3rd and Franklin streets, the police said.
“The car was driving through the block, and while they were driving through the block, they ended up driving between at least two individuals firing shots at each other from opposite sides of the street,” said Capt. Cheryl Pentheny, Reading Police Department.
Pentheny said the car was hit multiple times by gunfire. Inside were two women, one female child and two babies.
“One adult female in the vehicle received some sort of head wound,” Pentheny said, “not sure whether it is from a bullet or from broken glass.”
The police said it appears the victims were caught in the crossfire.
