Stanley J. Pogash, 97, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 12, 2021, at Broad Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born in Bucks Patch, May 11, 1924, he was a son of the late Albert and Vericona Pogash. He was the last member of the Pogash family.
He was a 61-year member of the Washington Fire Company and a member of the Ashland Fire Police, Washington Fire Company Community Ambulance, American Legion, Elks and Electrical Union IBEW. He was a World War II veteran. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and devoted his life to his family.
Stanley was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean, who passed away Aug. 2, 2020; his sisters, Helen Kane, Stella Britch, Marg Kane and Theresa Pogash; his brothers, Frank Pogash, Stephen Pogash, Thomas Pogash and John Pogash.
Surviving are his two daughters, Jean-Louise, wife of Thomas Hepler, Ashland, and Dianne, wife of James Mensch, Ashland; three grandchildren, Brian Hepler, Stacey Grass and Stefanie Ott; five great-grandchildren, Madeline, Amelia, Liliana, Zachary and Carly; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at the convenience of the family with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Parish with the Rev. Brian Miller officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Memorial contributions can be made to the Washington Fire Company, 1307 Centre St., Ashland, PA 17921.
