No-no in York: Saving parking spots in the snow
York City Police Officer Derek Hartman understands what it’s like to want to save your parking spot. Unfortunately, you can’t — it’s just littering.

Monday morning’s snowfall in central Pennsylvania was timed perfectly — well, more like imperfectly — striking as commuters rushed to work, triggering slick conditions and numerous crashes.
In York, Lebanon and Adams counties, accuweather.com called for 1-3 inches, while in Franklin County, the forecast predicted “an inch or two.”
A winter weather advisory was activated, set to run until 3 p.m.
“Snow will overspread most of the area around 9 AM, then briefly fall heavily before tapering off by early afternoon,” the advisory read. “Plan on slippery road conditions.”
By multiple communications on the York County 911 channels on Monday morning, it appeared icy conditions played a factor in many of the crashes, involving cars, truck and tractor-trailers.
At 10:41 a.m., there were more than 25 active incidents, with the majority of them disabled vehicles, crashes, or calls for fire police to block roads and direct traffic.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, the snow was expected to possibly mix with rain after 3 p.m., then gradually end.
For Monday night, the NWS called for mostly cloudy conditions, with a low of about 29. On Tuesday, the forecast is partly sunny, with a high near 46.
