Songs for Sondheim
Six area theater companies are joining forces to celebrate the life and work of the renowned musical theater composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, who died in November.
“For Stephen: A Review in Remembrance of Stephen Sondheim” is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday at The Lamp Theatre in Irwin. The program will feature numbers from Sondheim’s best-known works.
Admission is free; donations will be accepted to be divided evenly among the participating theater groups.

Two-night stand
Led Zeppelin tribute band, Get the Led Out, returns to The Palace Theatre in Greensburg for its regular two-night stand, with shows at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Hailing from the Philadelphia area, Get the Led Out focuses on the classic rock band’s early years, while also playing deeper cuts that were seldom heard in concert and a special acoustic set.

Creepy crawlers
The Westmoreland Reptile Expo is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Youngwood Fire Hall, 104 S. Second St.
The monthly show and sale features a large selection of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, feeders, supplies and more. A selection of educated breeders also will be on and to answer questions concerning the proper care of the exotic pets.
Admission is $5, or $3 for ages 10 and younger, seniors and military personnel.

In the weeds
Join Lindsey Praksti of the Westmoreland Conservancy for a Winter Weeds Walk at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Morosini Reserve, off Morosini Farm Road in Murrysville.
The walk will start at Lot No. 1, on the left side at the bend after passing under the trestle. Walkers should arrive 10 minutes early, as the walk will begin promptly at 10.
Participation is free, although registration is required at westmoreland conservancy.org.
Mini-military maneuvers
A game day featuring a variety of historical-miniature war games will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bushy Run Battlefield, off Route 993 in Penn Township.
No experience is necessary; veteran gamers will be on hand to explain how the games work. Experienced war-gamers who want to bring a game to run at the event should email [email protected]
A $5 fee includes museum tour. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
