READING, Pa. – One person has died after a house fire in Reading Thursday morning.
The person died at the hospital after being rushed from the scene in the 900 block of Muhlenberg Street, said the Berks County coroner, around 12:30 p.m. The person’s name or age has not yet been released.
The victim was one of three people taken to the hospital. Authorities at the scene had said some of the victims were in extremely critical condition.
A 69 News photographer saw firefighters carrying someone out of a second-floor window.
Authorities haven’t commented on how many people had to be rescued or their ages.
Crews struck three alarms for additional manpower to the scene after the fire was reported shortly before 10 a.m.
Several fire departments were on scene, and there was also a large police presence to help with crowd control.
Smoke poured from the front and sides of the corner home, and it appeared heavily burnt inside.
Officials have not released details on the extent of injuries of the other two victims, or what may have sparked the fire.
