A 26-year-old man died early Wednesday when he was hit by a truck while walking near a Silver Spring Township intersection, police said.
The township resident, who hasn’t been identified, was struck around 3:53 a.m. while walking near the intersection of North Locust Point Road and Carlisle Pike, according to Police Chief Christopher Raubenstine.
The man was crossing the street in the area of a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash, Raubenstine said. He could not confirm the man was in the crosswalk when he was hit.
Raubenstine said the driver immediately stopped and is cooperating with police.
Lane restrictions were in place in the area while police investigated, Raubenstine said. Nearby roadways have since fully reopened.
The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office and Crash Team assisted at the scene, as well as local fire, fire police and EMS personnel.
Anyone with additional information on the crash is asked to contact Sgt. Dave Jenkins at 717-697-0607, ext. 2012 or at [email protected]
