Fatal Dwelling Fire - Browns Mills

At 8:17pm Dec 26, Station 181 Browns Mills Fire Company, Engine 183 Country Lakes Fire Company, Ladder 6825 Fort Dix Fire Department were dispatched to 3519 Derose Street in Belair Trailer Park in Browns Mills section of the Township for a reported Dwelling Fire with victims trapped. While enroute F18101 (Browns Mills Fire Company Assistant Chief Dave Force) was informed that police were reporting a working fire and that all occupants were reported to be out by the neighbors. On arrival F18101 confirmed a working fire with fire venting from the windows in Division A & B corner. F1830 (Country Lakes Fire Chief Craig Augustoni) arrived and opened the Command Post while F18101 assumed Operations. First due Browns Mills Squirt1812 arrived and stretched an 1 3/4 line to the front door and forced entry. Crews were met with heavy fire and smoke but managed to advance on the fire and begin knockdown. Fort Dix Ladder 6825 (Captain Ponto Fort Dix) began to ventilate and pull ceilings and conduct a primary search which proved negative. Engine1833 (Assistant Chief Cochrane Country Lakes Fire Company) stretched a 2nd line to back up Squirt 1812 to help in extinguishing the fire in the ceiling area. Tender 1856 (Magnolia Road Fire Company) was called to the scene for water supply and Engine1811 (Browns Mills Fire Company Lieutenant Matt Jacob) arrived to assist in overhaul. During fire operations the resident returned and reported that his father who was a double amputee was at home. Once the fire was knocked down a secondary search located the victim in the fire room partially buried by debris from the collapsed roof. Fire was placed under control at 8:38pm.Browns Mills Emergency Squad were on hand at the scene and also set up rehab, Fire is under investigation by NJDFS SF20 (Meyers) and PTPD Detectives......
