DEPTFORD TWP., NJ- On the afternoon of July 31, 2008 Deptford ESU (squad 995) was dispatched to the rear of the petsmart store in Deptford Crossings for a MVC. Communications was advising a car vs tree with a minor injury. Upon the arrival of BLS 995 and Deptford Police a vehicle was found approximately 50 feet down an embankment with 2 patients, no entrapment. The BLS special called for the rescue for pt. removal via a stokes basket. At 3:18 pm Rescue Company 938 was dispatched to the scene. Upon the arrival of Rescue 938 and Duty Engine 921 a stokes basket was deployed and a 4:1 haulsafe was set up using the rescue's anchor point as a high point. Crews assisted EMS and removed the pt. from the vehicle and lashed the pt. in the stokes and the pt. was removed and extricated in 7 minutes. The pt. was taken to an area hospital and the driver refused treatment. Chief S. Hubbs (901) had command and Capt. R. Taylor from the rescue company had operations .
